North Jersey Flying Club

Affordable, safe flying — owned by the people who fly.

North Jersey Flying Club is forming now — a member-owned club with IFR-capable aircraft and a safety-first culture, with a tentative home base at Lincoln Park (N07) that could also end up at Caldwell (CDW), Morristown (MMU), or a mix.

Built on real demand: our interest survey already drew 40 pilots from around Lincoln Park, Morristown, and Caldwell.

First principles

What the club is built around.

Affordable

A modest buy-in, flat monthly dues, and honest hourly rates — flying you can budget for and actually do regularly.

Safe

A safety-first culture, well-maintained aircraft, clear currency and checkout standards, and insurance-backed pilot minimums.

A varied fleet

A fleet with more than one type of plane, so you can fly more than one type of mission.

The numbers

Simple, flat, predictable costs.

Buy-in (equity share)
~$5,000
Monthly dues (flat)
$150/mo
Hourly, wet tach (estimated)
$135/hrCessna 172 or equivalent$195/hrCessna 182 or equivalent

The buy-in is an equity share, not a deposit the club refunds — on exit, your share transfers to an incoming member. See the FAQ for how that works.

The fleet

A plane for the mission.

We plan to start with two complementary aircraft, and grow the fleet only as fast as the membership supports it.

Which planes do we plan to start with?

The all-arounder

Affordable, everyday flying.

The SUV of the fleet — think Cessna 172, Piper Warrior, or Archer — with a modest IFR panel, e.g. WAAS GPS and dual G5. Ideal for $100 hamburger runs, taking your friends down the skyline, instrument training, or staying current, at prices that make you want to fly more often.

Highlights

  • Low cost
  • IFR panel
  • Easy to fly

The capable traveler

More payload, more range, real IFR flying.

A step up in capability — think Cessna 182 or Piper Dakota — with more useful load, more speed, and a capable IFR panel with an autopilot for comfortable cross-country trips.

Highlights

  • Higher useful load
  • Autopilot
  • Real IFR flying

How it works

Apply now and help get us flying.

If you're serious about joining, apply now so we can gauge interest and get things started. Your application info will help us shape the course of the club and determine how fast we can acquire planes.

Once the corporation is set up, we'll onboard some founding members to get the first plane flying. Then we'll onboard other members to continue our growth.

Read the FAQ, where we spell out more of the plan.
